MY Eleven for PSL 2016

Finally we have our very own league; we can say anyone that is our league. From Opening to Closing Ceremony every Pakistan was attached to the PSL and millions of hearts wobbling along with sixes, and wickets. I wish to say thanks Pakistan Cricket Board and management of Pakistan Super League. They made dream into reality. Well done!

Today I am willing to share my team of PSL, after watching most of the games closely; I came to this position to share this team. I believe I chose the right team from PSL 2016.

  1. Sharjeel Khan (Islamabad United )

Sharjeel is my opener of the PSL team, the way he played in this inaugural PSL. Who can forget his first PSL Hundred? He is my top choice of selecting him in the team. He is also rewarded with call up for the Asia Cup & wt20.

  1. Tamim Iqbal (Peshawar Zalmi )

Tamim Iqbal is my opener. He had to leave PSL. But with the few matches he played for Zalmi was sensational. It was pure class and command. He was fantastic with Hafeez.

  1. Kevin Pieterson (Quetta Gladiators )

KP is the man who will be chosen by anyone to strengthen their top order. KP is an integral part of Quetta Gladiators with the bat and more importantly his presence matters for young players. He is the man who engaged with every bowler and every move & suggestions to Sarfaraz & Bowler converted in to GOLD.

  1. Umar Akmal ( Lahore Qalandars )

Umar Akmal is the only pick from Lahore Qalandars, He was superb while batting with the team whose top order failed twice, thrice almost every time. Umar Akmal played in this league with some purpose and he succeed. Few awards in the closing ceremony for him which is really good thing happened for Qalandars.

  1. Sarfaraz Ahmed (Quetta Gladiators )

Sarfaraz Ahmed is my Team’s wicket Keeper and obvious choice as a team captain. It was his first appearance at bigger occasion to emerge as a good leader. He led his team with some aggression. Which is missing in Pakistani captains at most.   I believe Sarfaraz’s future is bright. He can be the successor of Afridi after wt20.

  1. Khalid Latif (Islamabad United )

Khalid Latif played some great innings in the PSL and I want to strengthen the batting line up. That is why I selected him. Many of us might not select him in playing eleven of PSL. I will go to him because he has both aggression and sensible sort of mind set. He can be brutal at the moment and looked calm as well.

  1. Ravi Bopara (Karachi Kings )

Ravi Bopara was the lone warrior for the team Karachi Kings. He bowled well, Bat well, field well and captained the side in last match for his team. Ravi became the Coolest player of PSL. Which is a great achievement for him as an individual and a team player. Though Karachi unable to play good cricket, but few positives are with them and Ravi is one of those.

  1. Mohammad Nawaz (Quetta Gladiators )

Mohammad Nawaz is the real find of the tournament, He is complete all rounder. He can bat well and more importantly he can rattle the stumps with his left arm bowling. You can not say anything against him. He was superb with ball, Nice with the bat and athletic in the field. A young prospect playing cricket from School.

  1. Andre Russell (Islamabad United )

Andre Russell is the only Caribbean to be picked by me. He finished PSL with top-wicket taker of PSL and He also played few innings too with the bat. He was integral part of the PSL for Islamabad United.

  1. Wahab Riaz (Peshawar Zalmi )

Wahab Riaz is a spearhead bowler for Pakistan, and he performed up to the mark for Peshawar Zalmi too. He starts with the ball in the middle over and came back in the death over. Which is always a tough time to bowl, but he did well to make many matches in the favor of Zalmi’s.

  1. Mohammad Sami (Islamabad United )

Sami’s bowling gives Islamabad a perfect bowler. He is also rewarded with the selection in national team. What a performer he is ! Playing domestic cricket since long and trying hard to make a come back in the team. As soon as PSL came in to action he thought this is the platform from where you can launch yourself and become a champion. So here he comes. He performed well and got rewarded.

  1. Mohammad Asghar (Peshawar Zalmi )

Mohammad Asghar is another left arm spinner and a good fielder too. He said in an interview with Rameez, commenting on his two brilliant catches , that I have big hands. Once ball comes in grab of those hands, than how will he left the ball.

I believe PSL is arrived. No doubt it is one of the biggest leagues at the moment. Response of crowds and fans are too awesome. It opens the doors of second PSL. Franchises will be keen to watch out our domestic tournaments to pick best out of local talent. Which is a very good for we all.

KARACHI KINGS ANNOUNCE FUTURE PLANS

Karachi kings.JPG

YES Karachi Kings is coming up with great plans in near future. Which is a great news for we all cricket lovers in Pakistan. I am overwhelmed to share this news with you. I believe with the efforts of Karachi franchise we will get good and positive results very soon.

The owner of the Pakistan Super League’s team Karachi Kings, Mr. Salman Iqbal, announced today that the franchise is planning to take some major steps this year. These steps will take the strength of the team forward and provide exciting opportunities to the young cricketers of Pakistan for the PSL arena.

The Karachi Kings will start three additional teams in order to bring out the best of cricketing amongst young and upcoming players in Karachi. There will be a junior team by the name of Karachi Kings XI. Which will comprise of the players selected and trained for the main Karachi Kings team.  This team will be playing in local tournaments/leagues and best performers will be getting a chance to be part of the main Karachi Kings team.

Apart from this there will be two teams by the names of Karachi Kings Under 15 and Karachi Kings Under 19. The players selected for these teams will be given full school and college scholarships by the franchise and encouraged to play cricket along with equal concentration on their studies.

The franchise will soon announce camps in Karachi along with a complete team of professionals from the cricket arena including coaches, managers and selectors, which will also involve renowned cricketing names hailing from Karachi in the process.

At this occasion Mr. Salman Iqbal said, “Cricket over the decades has become part of our culture and especially in Karachi which has made major contributions to Pakistan’s phenomenal cricketing history. We want to convert Pakistan Super League into a great opportunity for young aspiring cricketers in Karachi who were otherwise not getting enough means to prove their mantle. We invite the entire cricketing community in Karachi to come join hands with us and take cricket to the next level”.

Quetta won PSL Opener

QUETTA WON FIRST MATCHFinally a long awaited Pakistan Super League kicked off with a glamour and fun. Nevertheless it was all because of continuous struggle and willingness of Pakistan Cricket Board and its governing council to make it happen.

Quetta Gladiators won the opening match of the inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL) beating Islamabad United by eight wickets in a one-sided match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Luke Wright played a magnificent unbeaten innings of 86 runs. He hit 11 boundaries and four maximums in the process.

Imran Khalid was the only successful bowler for Islamabad with two wickets for 20 runs in his four overs.

Earlier, Muhammad Nawaz’s four overs of left-arm spin helped Quetta restrict Islamabad to a score of 128-7.

Quetta sent Islamabad to bat first after winning the toss and Nawaz bagged four wickets in each of his four overs to bring Misbahul Haq-led team down.

Islamabad was looked off color from word GO! , when Anwar Ali bowled first over of Pakistan Super League as maiden, Then after spinners of Quetta Gladiators didn’t give them second chance to overcome them. A late assault of Misbah (41) together with Andre Russell (35), then, played useful knocks to push the total to decency.

Smart player of the match, maximum boundaries award bagged by Luke Wright.

Man of the match award goes to Muhammad Nawaz for his all-round performance. “I am very happy. Pressure was there but Zulfiqar helped me. I am here to prove myself as an all-rounder.”

Misbah: “We started poorly with the bat and the ball. We kept losing wickets. Quetta applied them better than us. Pitches support the spinner, we need to add spinners.”

Sarfraz: “We won a good toss. The win is very important. Credit goes to the bowlers. Luke was exceptional; he pushed Islamabad out of the match. KP supported me very much.”

I believe with more matches being played in this PSL will bring more crowds to the matches. Crowd during the opening match was not bad, but it could be better once it will get underway.

Today we will have a double header. Lahore Qalandars will face Karachi Kings in first match of the day, while Islamabad United will play against Peshawar Zalmi to prove themselves a very good team.
